History
Threnody was born into a post-war, post-rapture society that still licked its wounds. Though the war waged between Heaven and Hell took place on Earth, many casualties and damage was caused to all three realms. Ultimately, Heaven won that war after a long, bloody, arduous battle.
A number of years after that, Threnody was born a human.
He saw the poverty and displacement that demons and humans were going through under Heaven's rule — weren't angels supposed to be kind and benevolent? It felt that, as more time passed between the war and the post-war wreckage, those angels were more the evil forces all along.
However, as Threnody reached age 17 or so, he was Touched. This Touch came from a being that called itself Stolas, but was clearly not that prince of Hell. Instead, Stolas was something that both frightened and intrigued Threnody. Like an anglerfish's lure, Stolas drew Threnody in. There were a few others, but Threnody was to work on his own.
His assignment was to kill the higher-ranking angels with his newfound eldritch powers, given by Stolas. Secretly as possible, and framing demons and humans. It was all in an effort to establish Stolas as the ruler over Earth, for reasons unknown to Threnody.
Threnody was corrupted by his power: he went from a bitter and angry young man who just wanted to help his family and others like them in their settlement, to a ruthless and off-his-rocker harbinger of this strange, terrible eldritch God.
Yet as his first assignment came, he would come to fail to assassinate said angel, the Archangel Gabriel. In his failure, the higher orders of angels were made aware of the existence of Stolas, and Stolas himself was made furious. He told Threnody to atone: sewing his mouth shut and torturing him to get him to break, before telling him that he had to still kill that angel.
With all of that pain, Threnody had no choice, and he did it.

He then cut out his own right eye and the murdered Gabriel's, implanting that eye into himself. This suffused him with angelic grace, and he was rendered an even stranger abomination than before, with the powers of both an eldritch god and an archangel of Heaven.
But Stolas was not done ... he cast Threnody out, and he took his memory, for reasons also still unknown to him.
At Threnody's canon point, he doesn't remember much about his past as an agent of the Ink. All he knows is that he has mismatched eyes, eldritch + angel powers, and a flaming sword.
